Chronicle: “The relationship between industry and universities is still a bit shaky”

We need to create a better climate for professional collaboration between academia and industry. This is what SwedenBIO's CEO Jonas Ekstrand writes in a column in Kemivärlden Biotech. He believes that there is still a mutual suspicion between the two spheres that does not provide a good basis for productive interactions.

Jonas Ekstrand believes that we should look at how other countries have solved this and points to Canada and the US where senior industrial researchers can do sabbaticals in academic laboratories.

He writes: “We could stimulate more mobility through more calls for shared research positions, establish a sabbatical system and increase the academic credit for R&D carried out with industry.
