Packed course in drug development
Getting an overview of all the steps that are required from start to finish is what makes this course so popular. Many of the participants are experienced, but courses are aimed at both junior and senior staff who want a crash course in the whole drug development process.
Marta Schiavon from Lundbeck in Copenhagen and Eva Filmström from Calliditas Therapeutics in Stockholm attended the seventh edition of the course and they agree.
– It’s great to have a course where you can see the whole picture of drug development. The fact that it addresses the entire value chain means that many pieces of the puzzle fall into place, says Eva, and Marta agrees. It’s really hard to find a training opportunity like this in English, so when I read about it, I knew it was something I didn’t want to miss.
The full course in drug development is co-organized by SwedenBIO and the Swedish Academy of Medicine.
The drug development course is offered twice a year, with a different focus in the fall and spring.
The “Biologics, Drug Development” course will next take place on October 3-5, 2023.
Strategy and business development course for life science leaders
In October, the first stage of SwedenBIO and Läkemedelsakademin’s newly developed training program in strategy and business development for life science leaders took place.
The course brought together 19 life science leaders, along with prominent life science representatives from near and far, to lecture and guide their own strategic development plan. The course was led by Ingrid Heath, partner and senior advisor at Adlersson Heath.

Christina Östberg Lloyd and Karoline Akerjordet from Pharmiva are two of the course participants.
– I’ve had a real change of heart,” says Christina. The opportunity to interact with course participants, lecturers and course management has been extremely valuable and the level of engagement has been unusually high. I don’t think I’ve ever had so many contacts and perspectives in such a short time, and it triggers a lot of thoughts.
– I have experience in healthcare, Big pharma and now as CEO of a small listed company and the content has been relevant to all parts of that journey. There is a high bounce factor,” she continues.
– I can only agree,” says Karoline. The best ones have been the lecturers who offered themselves and took on the dialog. It is important to learn to think outside the box, but also to connect the parts across borders.
The course has been developed by SwedenBIO together with Läkemedelsakademin to meet the need for customized business training.
The next course will be held on September 27-29 + October 23, 2023.
