Helena Strigård new CEO at SwedenBIO

The Board of SwedenBIO has appointed Helena Strigård as the new CEO of SwedenBIO. Strigård will take office on September 1, replacing Jonas Ekstrand who, after eight successful years at SwedenBIO, is moving on to other activities.

– I am very pleased that Helena Strigård has accepted the task of leading Sweden’s largest trade association for life sciences. As Vice President of SwedenBIO, she has strongly contributed to the organization’s positive development and I am convinced that she will be able to further develop the business, which is now undergoing strong expansion, says SwedenBIO’s Chairman of the Board Lars Adlersson.

Helena Strigård is a civil engineer in molecular biotechnology and Ph. kand. in business administration. She has previously worked as an advisor in research and innovation policy at the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise and as an advisor at the business organization BusinessEurope. At the Ministry of Finance’s budget department, she has over the years been responsible for a number of policy areas, including business and research policy and the department’s work on the 2016 research and innovation bill.

– I look forward to taking over the leadership of SwedenBIO and together with my colleagues further develop the association’s work to support our members and strengthen the conditions for the Swedish life science companies. Life science is a Swedish flagship industry and our focus is to keep it that way, says Helena Strigård, incoming CEO of SwedenBIO.

Lars Adlersson adds:

– On behalf of its members, the Board would like to warmly thank Jonas Ekstrand for his many years of service as CEO of SwedenBIO. Jonas has strongly contributed to making SwedenBIO a strong and important actor, meeting place and voice in the debate. We wish him good luck in his new role.
