Lunch & Learn: Skills supply and demand in the life science industry

Skills supply and matching problems in the Life Science industry in Sweden have been on the agenda and attracted attention in Sweden for several years. When you scratch the surface, however, there are not many facts available that can clarify what this matching problem could mean more concretely for companies operating in the industry - or whether the companies actually experience a matching problem in their everyday lives.

In the fall of 2015, the Science Skills board commissioned Mercuri Urval to conduct a study that could provide a current and future analysis of the supply of skills and needs in the Life Science industry with a focus on the Öresund region, the Stockholm region (including Uppsala) and the Gothenburg region. The aim of the study was to deliver facts about the type of skills that the Life Science industry needs to further develop its business, as well as the skills that are in short supply or surplus.

The study was conducted in the fall of 2015 and spring of 2016 and has included a national pre-study, a quantitative part where about 120 companies responded to questionnaires and analysis interviews with about 45 selected companies in Skåne, Stockholm/Uppsala and Gothenburg.

On October 4 at Medicon Village Lunch & Learn, Mercuri Urval and Science Skills will present the results of the study.
