Nordic Conference on Pragmatic Clinical Studies

Network and discuss with leaders from health care, academia, pharma and med-tech industry, and regulatory authorities.

Too many decisions about health and healthcare are still not supported by high quality evidence. Prospectively designed registries, cohort studies and randomized clinical trials conducted in the context of clinical practice – pragmatic clinical trials – may be highly valuable as source of knowledge in the future.

The purpose of this conference is to evaluate opportunities and challenges with pragmatic clinical studies and provide outstanding examples of research cooperation and initiatives in the Nordic countries for the advancement of pragmatic clinical studies into health care practices. In addition to providing practical aspects of designing and running pragmatic trials.

Discuss with leaders from health care, academia, pharma and med-tech industry, and regulatory authorities. How do we assure quality in pragmatic trials, including registry-based randomized clinical trials and cluster-randomized clinical trials? Will the new EU regulation affect possibilities to perform pragmatic clinical trials in the Nordic countries? Find out what roles patient advocacy groups and funding organizations play in advocating new pragmatic trial approaches.

The conference comprise three main themes over two full days meeting:

  • Pragmatic clinical studies in the context of health care and registries
  • Regulatory challenges to pragmatic clinical studies in the Nordic countries
  • From epidemiology to health care – pitfalls and possibilities

The conference is a collaboration between Uppsala Clinical Research Center and Forum Uppsala-Örebro with financial support from the Nordic Trial Alliance.
