For this year´s conference, the Nordic countries were for the first time jointly branded as The Nordics – Global Hub for Life Science Innovation, with our value proposition to international companies and investors packaged in one set of messages, building upon common denominators.
– By joining forces with our neighboring countries, we believe that we can be even more successful in attracting intelligent capital and business to business collaborations to our life science sector. This is imperative for the continuous growth of Swedish life science, says director general Jonas Ekstrand, SwedenBIO´s representative in the consortium.
The number of Nordic companies attending the convention is record high, underlining the necessity of an international visibility as voiced by Ekstrand.
And the effort has payed off.
– The interest that the Nordics is attaining at these types of international platforms has increased, says Olivier Duchamp, vice president of SwedenBIO’s international business promotion division, confirming that the efforts deployed for creating and growing the Nordic Life Science Days conference are fruitful, useful and must be continued.
The Nordic-American community was gathered at the evening reception on June 4th. Together, over hundred delegates were welcomed by Ulf Åkerblom, Swedish Honorary Consul in Philadelphia and Roger Franklin, Partner at Hadean Ventures.
Christopher Leo, Senior Vice President at Back Bay Life Science Advisors, made an address on why the Nordics is such a good fit for their company:
– It´s about the people. Working with Nordic companies is characterized by strong relationships, it´s a very collaborative and collegial environment combined with a strong science base.
