We’re hiring a part-time programmer

SwedenBIO is looking for a part-time programmer to support the construction of a survey data base during September–December 2022.

SwedenBIO is the Swedish life science industry organization with over 300 member companies in biotech, pharma and medtech. An important activity for SwedenBIO is to provide up-to-date statistics and overviews of the life science sector. We do this through questionnaires and surveys, as well as through other available data sets. We now plan to increase our analytical power by standardizing our workflow and organize our existing data sets. We are looking for a supporting team member to organize our database of survey responses.

For this temporary part-time position, we are looking for someone who is skilled in data handling and digital organization, who is communicative and flexible. We are looking for a pragmatic solution of organizing data objects in a way that allows for both automated and manual analyses. You will work closely with SwedenBIOs Science Relations Manager and analyst Maja Neiman. We foresee a solution based on R-scripts and Excel-objects, but you may very well suggest better solutions.

We encourage students with programming skills and an interest in the life science field to apply.

Specific task: Organization of data objects (currently Excel work sheets) into a format accessible for enquiries and cross-object analyses. Performing of such analyses under supervision.

Extent: Part time, approximately 20-25% (30-40 hours per month) during September to December 2022. The workload may be adjusted after planning and progress.

Location: The main work may be conducted from home. Regular meetings on a bi-weekly basis will take place at Wallingatan 24, Stockholm.

Requirements:

  • Education in a relevant field (programming, computer science, data handling) and/or corresponding documented experience (work, projects, competitions, hackathons, etc)
  • Practical skills: Programming/data handling.
  • Additional skills: Written and oral communication skills, service mindset, take responsibility to ask questions, deliver on time, pragmatic, solution driven.
  • Fluent in English and/or Swedish
