SwedenBIO’s CEO takes a seat in Europe’s largest industry association for biotechnology

On Thursday, SwedenBIO CEO Jessica Martinsson was elected to the board of EuropaBio, Europe's largest and most influential biotechnology industry organization. The election took place during the organization's annual general meeting in Brussels.

“I look forward to contributing with a Swedish perspective and sharing our experiences in the European discussions on biotech and life science. The conditions for our industry are increasingly being shaped at the EU level, and the sector’s future growth will be crucial for Europe’s competitiveness and prosperity,” says Jessica Martinsson about her new role.

Jessica Martinsson will also lead EuropaBio’s SME platform, which brings together small and medium-sized biotech companies from across Europe, covering the full breadth of the sector. The platform is made up of EuropaBio and its national member organizations, and since 2025 it has represented more than 4,500 biotech companies.

EuropaBio – The European Association for Bioindustries – is based in Brussels and was founded in 1996 to represent the interests of the biotechnology industry at European level. The organization is a key player in the dialogue with the European Parliament, the European Commission, and the Council of Ministers, with the aim of influencing legislation relating to the development of biotechnology. EuropaBio represents players in both medical and industrial biotechnology.
