2014 saw the launch of the EU’s new framework program for research and innovation – Horizon 2020. Nearly €80 billion will be awarded to European researchers and innovators over a seven-year period. Horizon 2020 has simplified the rules, making it easier for e.g. small businesses – the EU wants to encourage small businesses to participate. We are now entering the second programming period (2016-2017), and the new calls have been published.
